Agapi Mou is a four-piece ensemble that plays Greek traditional music, with an emphasis on tradition -- no modern sound effects or drum machines, just violin, clarinet, hand drums, laouto, and voice. The name Agapi Mou means "my love" in Greek and describes the group's feeling for the music they play. Formed in 2009, the group performs in the San Francisco Bay Area at festivals, restaurants, dance venues, concert halls, and private parties.
Romantique is an electro-acoustic duo inspired by different musical traditions from around the world. The duo was formed by Aya Safiya and Tano Brock with the goal of mixing modern electronic sounds with natural sounds from their knowledge of World Music. Both members of the duo were cofounders of the Bay Area band “Taraf de Locos”.
Taraf de Locos
Taraf de Locos derives cultural relevance and power from the established Balkan and Latin music traditions of San Francisco’s Mission District and the larger Bay Area. Formed in 2014, Taraf de Locos came together through the intersection of diverse musical backgrounds, shared Mission community, and a love of Rromani, Albanian, Colombian, Brazilian, Cuban, and Mexican music. The band has since recruited bassist Mireya Leon, released a debut album, and toured the U.S.
